In the heart of the Crete Senesi, in a panoramic position on the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore and Chiusure, is this ancient beautiful village dating back to the 1200.
Location & Lifestyle
The village of Chiusure stands on a hill located at 6,8 kilometers south of Asciano. The small village is located in a privileged position and dominates the magnificent landscape of the Crete Senesi, characterized by phenomena called "biancane" and "calanchi" which are formed by the erosion of the clayey soil by atmospheric agents. Certainly the presence in these areas of the Etruscans and Romans, we have documents on Closing starting from 715, when the village was around an ancient monastery dedicated to Sant'Arcangelo in Luco, now disappeared. Not far from Chiusure, there is the splendid Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, home of the Olivetan Congregation, founded by Saint Bernardo Tolomei of 1319. Other points of interest in the immediate vicinity are Asciano, S. Giovanni D'Asso, a small town famous for its truffles, Pienza and the Val D'Orcia, Montepulciano and Siena for 40 Km only. The motorway exit is the A1 Val Di Chiana at 50 Km.
This beautiful old village has a total area of around 1000 sqm. The complex is made up of two large main buildings plus a small chapel and a small annex all set within a plot of approximately 40 Ha of various kinds (olive grove, arable land, forest). The entire property, well exposed and with considerable potential in the tourist-receptive sector, needs major renovation works.
State and Finishes
The whole property has to be completely restored
All the buildings on the outside are in stone while the little chapel is plastered. The large courtyard, which surrounds the property, results in a flat area with a view of the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore and Chiusure.
The property is perfect to be included in the tourist accommodation circuit.
